macOS Installation

This document details installation of the single-user version of Design-Expert and Stat-Ease 360 for macOS. The installer is the same for both.

System Requirements

Minimum hardware and operating system requirements:

1 GHz

Hard Drive

250 MB free space

2 GB

Operating System

  • macOS 10.15 or higher

On macOS you will have downloaded a file named “se-[VERSION].0-x64.dmg” (the version number will vary depending on when you downloaded the software). If you downloaded it from our website it is probably in your Downloads folder.

Double-click this file to open the installer.

Now click and drag the DX icon across to your Applications folder. The installation is now complete.

Design-Expert can now be found in Applications or the Launchpad.

The first time you run the program you will be asked to activate, there are a few different options for activation.

If you have a hosted license, leave “View available licenses” selected and click Next. Enter your login, and click Authorize when prompted. From here you can select your license, click Next, then click Finish to activate.

For a single-user license you can also use the first option. Otherwise, if you know your serial number, select the second option to “Activate over the internet.” Enter your 16-digit serial number (dashes included) and click Finish.

If you know that you are using a local network license, choose “Connect to an on-premise license server” and click Next. Enter the hostname or IP address of your license server and click Finish (unless you are using a proxy server). If you know that your system has a proxy server, you can enter the host name of the proxy. The host name should be entered in the form host_name:port_number (if the port number used by the proxy is not the default 8080). If you need to set the proxy credentials, they can be entered in the form user:password. Note that only BASIC authentication type is supported.

See the Network Installation documentation for more instructions.

Activation Issues

For issues activating a single-user license, you can select the “Manual activation” option. Click the button to get to your account and manually generate a license file. Save the license file and return to the activation window, click Next and click the button to browse to your license. Once it has been selected, click Finish to activate. If you continue to have issues, send the the pre-filled host ID and your serial number to and we can manually generate a license file.

For issues with a hosted license contact Stat-Ease support.

For issues with a local network license, contact your license administrator or Stat-Ease support.
